Are you robbing yourself of the results you deserve? If you don't eat for your body type you are

“The food you eat is composed of hundreds of different kinds of material, but mostly, it is made up of three main nutrients: protein, carbohydrates and fats. These are commonly referred to as macronutrients. You metabolize a lot of different nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals. However, you only derive energy from these three macronutrients, or energy nutrients, as some books refer to them. They are vital to life and need to be continually replenished. When oxidized in the body, the energy nutrients break down, and some of their components bind with other compounds to form waste materials. As the macronutrients are broken down, they release energy. Some of this energy is released as heat, some is transferred into other compounds that make up the structures of our body cells, and some are used as fuel for our activities.” Wells, J. (1999) Maxform your life
There we have it. Encompassing all our nutritional needs are the same three macronutrients. When understood, this gives perspective of proper nutrition. You simply need to consume a consistent amount of protein, carbohydrates and fats each day. But how do YOU know your individual amounts required to get the best possible results?
This is where understanding your body type is imperative. In fact, it is the starting point. Without understanding your body type and needs it would be like buying shoes that are not the correct size for your feet. Sure, they are still shoes but they are far less effective for your feet. You need to know and understand your body type before you can truly begin making progress. Here are the basic human body types and some characteristics of each:
Endomorph: Thick rib cage, wide/thicker joints, wide hips, shorter limbs, soft body (Very Carb Sensitive)
Mesomorph: Narrow waist, thinner joints, long muscle bellies, athletic, muscular (Moderate Carb Sensitivity)
Ectomorph: Narrow hips, small joints, thing build, long limbs, stringy muscle bellies, flat chest (Hi tolerance to Carbs)
There are numerous reasons it is important to understand your body type. The central purpose is to determine your sensitivity to carbohydrates. While the endomorph is more sensitive to carbohydrates than the mesomorph or ectomorph, it does not mean the endomorph should go without carbohydrates. It simply means the endomorph would need a different amount. Understanding your body type will also enable you to portion out your meals in the ideal sizes of proteins and fats as well as meal timing. Knowing your body type will also encourage certain training regimens over others that will allow you to work out and exercise with purpose and confidence that you are putting in the correct work for the desired results.

When you come to our store, we will test and determine your body type. You will see for yourself that while you are going to be dominantly one of the three types, you will probably have characteristics of the other two. This matters because depending on what and how much of the characteristics of the other two you have, you may need more or maybe less protein, carbs and fats to keep you properly energized and to achieve your desired goals. By calculating your characteristics, we are then able to personalize and fine tune your nutritional needs.
We invite you to come in to Max Muscle Bountiful or Layton today to test on our InBody machine and consult with your Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach to determine your body type. Once we have your dominant body type and percentages of traits of the other two types, we are then able to tie your needs and goals together. Remember, if you are an endomorph attempting to use the same meal plan as the ectomorph or mesomorph, your results will be shortchanged. It is not enough to just follow the plan that your friend or relative has. To achieve the best possible results, you need a plan tailored to you! We are here to help you personalize your nutritional goals and ensure you have a plan that will work for you!
